  • Protein Skimmer

    A protein skimmer or foam fractionator is a device used to remove organic compounds such as food and waste particles from water. It is most commonly used in commercial applications like municipal water treatment facilities and public aquariums. Smaller protein skimmers are also used for filtration of home saltwater aquariums.

    External fish tank filters, or canister filters, are an ideal solution for customers maintaining a large aquarium where a strong water current and high level of filtration is necessary. With a larger capacity to include supplementary media such as carbon, external filters also contain a greater amount of sponge and biological media, enhancing the level of mechanical filtration and breakdown of ammonia.

    Aquarium Reactors include a range of different devices. Generally reactors are used to fluidise media for your fish tank. For example if there is a chemical imbalance such as too much nitrate, the treatment media is placed in the reactor chamber and the water in your fish tank is circulated around the cannister so it is exposed to the media. Aquarium Reactors also eliminate the constant need to test levels and dose treatments as the reactors can be used to keep levels at their optimum range.

    Calcium reactors in marine and reef aquariums create a balance of alkalinity. An acidic solution is produced by injecting carbon dioxide into a chamber with salt water and calcium rich media. The carbon dioxide lowers the pH by producing a solution high in carbonic acid, and dissolves calcium. It is then returned to the reef aquarium. The resulting calcium rich water is then used by corals and other reef life.
